Day Programs

Sailability

Eloura Day Programs serve people between the ages of 21 to 64 who have moderate to severe intellectual disabilities.  Day Programs are delivered from the Guides Hall in Winmalee and are funded by NSW Department of Ageing Disability and Home Care (DADHC).

Innovative Partnerships

Eloura Day Programs are involved in a range of innovative partnerships including:

Peer Support Program

High school students ranging in age from 13 to 17 participate in a Peer Support Program with service users of Eloura Day Programs. One afternoon each week, high school students and a teacher participate in activities such as sport, arts and crafts and interactive games with people with moderate to high support needs. The high school students learn about disabilities and identify individual's abilities.  Part of the interactive program for high school students is to design and conduct activities that all service users can participate in fully. In this way, the high school students become aware of the needs of individuals and learn the true meaning of inclusion.  The Peer Support Program has proven to be a huge success both with service users of Eloura and the high school students in that it has nurtured mutual understanding, empathy and rewarding friendships.

Nepean Community College

Service users from Eloura Day Programs participate in customised courses conducted in partnership with Nepean Community College.

Penrith Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC)

The Penrith PCYC has provided the venue for a range of exciting and stimulating activities for service users in Eloura Day Programs.

Sailability on Penrith Lakes

Regular outings to Penrith Lakes allow services users of Eloura Day Programs to enjoy sailing, increase self-confidence and gain pride through achievement.

Transition To Work (TTW)

The Transition To Work (TTW) program is designed to provide two years of training to service users in a work environment.  Service users in the TTW program practice skills and learn about work ethics and OH&S as well as undertake structured training in their preferred field of employment.  The aim of TTW is to prepare candidates in training and work readiness.  At present, service users are undertaking their TTW training in Eloura's Grounds and Maintenance crews and workshop areas.
