November 2011: Eloura celebrates 50 years
During November Eloura- Blue Mountains Disability Services commemorated 50 years of 'Disability to Capability' and providing disability support services throughout the Blue Mountains. Eloura hosted a number of events, with current and former staff and supporters gathering to celebrate the difference the organisation has made to the lives of people with a disability.
On Saturday 5th November, Eloura hosted a celebration dinner at their new Springwood venue, the Eloura Training & Conference Centre, which attracted over 85 guests, including Louise Markus MP, Federal Member for Macquarie, Roza Sage MP, Member for Blue Mountains, Blue Mountains City Council Mayor, Cr Daniel Myles and event partner Max Employment.
This provided an opportunity to celebrate achievements and reflect on the developments of the organisation since 1961. The event also raised more than $18,000 on the evening; funds which will be directed back into Eloura's programs.
'On behalf of Eloura, I would like thank everyone who donated and celebrated with us' said CEO Graham Boshier 'It is inspiring to receive such generous support from our local community and we look forward to another wonderful 50 years working together'.
