The Eloura HUB

The Eloura HUB was officially opened on Friday May 27 2011 by Senator the Hon Jan McLucas, Parliamentary Secretary for Disabilities and Carers, pictured below with CEO Graham Boshier, HUB Manager Cath James and Eloura Chair Don Luscombe. View the below file for media coverage of the event. The Eloura HUB was constructed through the Australian Government Jobs Fund Program as a multi-purpose facility for the lower Blue Mountains Community. Through the project, a total of 188 jobs were created, four traineeships through Mountain Gardens, four apprenticeships, 24 work experience placements and 52 HUB volunteers were registered.

In addition to being home to the Mountain Gardens social enterprise, the HUB will have a range of potential future uses. These include a vocational and non-vocational training facility for people with a disability, a purpose-built sensory room and a meeting place for community organisations and not-for-profits.

Mountain Gardens is an Eloura initiative providing training and employment for  Blue Mountains youth in the landscaping industry. Four trainees completing their Certificate III in Horticulture at Wentworth Falls TAFE are supported by our two supervisors, Peter and Matt, who have more than 35 years combined experience in the landscaping industry. Visit the Mountain Gardens website at www.mountaingardens.com.au.

Please contact Cath James on 0400 171 478 or if you'd like more information on the Eloura HUB.
